Alpha Genesis was formed by the late Reverend John Green Jr. It was a para ministry to Christ Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. The mission supported woman and children, provided economic stimulus through job training, summer camp and after school programs for children.
Our goals and aspirations have always been the same, to strengthen and empower our community, the only thing that changes is how we get that done, whether it through art, story telling, music or now financial projects in the community, we are committed to creating a strong village that allows everyone to be their own north star.

The Day of Resilience 2021 was an event that pushed forward the envelope on Cambridge receiving its own Harriet Tubman Statue, a day of jubilation and joy from the community,, which created an outpouring of support for the statue initiative.

The "Beacon of Hope" Statue was a long journey coming through countless community events and fundraisers, the raising of a little under $400,000 Dollars over the course of a year for the entire project.


The 'Beacon of Hope' Statue was completed and the last final piece of gold leaf was put on by Alpha Genesis founder and president Adrian Holmes, completing the journey of Harriet's Image finally returning home.

2022 was named The year of Harriet Tubman by Governor Hogan, encouraging those willing to explore the history of Harriet Tubman, The Underground Railroad, and how it took place right in the Dorchester County Maryland.

Alpha Genesis hosted a community commemorative event honoring the US colored troops of Dorchester County who were deployed to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and helped free the some of the last enslaved people in this country.

Alpha Genesis is always looking for ways to bring this village together. We wanted to share the message of heritage preservation, and enlighten our community as to the struggles of procuring money to get these Historical Landmarks saved and talked about.

With plans for North Star Village underway we begin to see less of an idea and more reality, with construction beginning late 2025 and expected to be completed in Spring of 2026, we couldn't be more excited as we have our business owners ready to go and a slew of exciting ideas for this creative space.

Alpha Genesis applied to be a host site with the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option program, and found our two wonderful interns Tamira Dotson our bookkeeper/admin and Daniel Palamaras our Community Outreach Coordinator who will be with us from September 2025 to June 2026 helping us to serve the community with even more vigor.

Alpha Genesis was happy to be the host partner for the Sailing the Choptank Through Ebony Eyes event, where the community was invited to sail on the Pride of Baltimore II Vessel, learning from historians and non profit leaders throughout their sail about the importance of the Chesapeake bay and the black watermen that have tended it all these years.
